SpectralDR® Technology: Additional Image Information in a Single Mobile Exposure

Integrated with the Reveal™ 35C detector, SpectralDR® technology enables the acquisition of standard and spectral images from a single exposure, maintaining a standard X-ray dose.

For a mobile system like Mobi Lite, this means additional image information can be obtained within the same acquisition, supporting efficient imaging in fast-paced clinical environments. By reducing the need for repeat imaging and maintaining workflow simplicity, the system is designed to perform reliably across a range of care settings.

Clinical Case

Discover a Hidden Focal Opacity in a Portable X-ray

This is a 51-year-old female leukemia (AML) patient.  First, the conventional DR X-Ray was read as normal. After seeing the soft tissue image, the radiologist said they now noticed a highlighted focal opacity indicative of pneumonia (confirmed on CT).  The diagnosis was confirmed positive for febrile neutropenic pneumonia.

Better Line Delineation at the Bedside with no additional software

Portable imaging is taken to a new level with the ability to quickly and efficiently allow physicians to verify proper line and tube placements, at no extra dose to the patient, nor the need of add-on software.  Take note of the high level of detail exhibited in the vascular wire mesh.

Reveal™ 35C: Clinical Findings from Real-World Imaging Environments

Clinical evaluations using the Reveal™ 35C detector have shown that the additional image information provided by spectral imaging can support visualization and reader confidence in certain imaging scenarios. By generating standard and material-specific images from a single exposure, the detector offers added context that may help inform interpretation without changing workflow or increasing dose.

Testimonials

Patrik RogallaRadiologist
In the first 34 patients, Reveal™’s dual energy capabilities have already helped find pneumonia with higher confidence. We are continuing to image and will be adding a second system to increase our imaging capacity
Vikram VenkateshRadiologist
Dual-energy images from the Reveal™ detector helped find lung nodules and scarring that were hard to pick up on the X-ray image. The dual-energy images also showed positioning of lines and tubes very clearly, which can be difficult to appreciate on portable X-ray images.
Mary MaySupervisor, General Radiography and CT
It represents a huge improvement for our ICU population who are suffering right now from COVID-19, from bad pneumonia... When you can go in there, bring the detector directly to the patient and see so much more by taking this image, it makes a big difference
Sandeep RongheMedical Imaging Technologist
I think the patients with the least mobility will be impacted the most. If we can take the imaging test to them, that makes a really big difference. Overall, just the sheer dose level being cut down to significant amount of dose makes it the kind of imaging technology that is worth to have.
Carla GirolamettoDirector of Research, Innovation and Clinical Trials, Grand River Hospital, Kitchener
A preliminary analysis comparing the six weeks preceding the pilot period and the 6 weeks in which KA Imaging’s 35C Reveal™ detector was in use demonstrates a decrease in both the total number of portable chest x-rays as well as chest CTs for patients admitted to ICU.
