The First Medical X-ray in Space

New publication: First peer-reviewed study on medical X-ray imaging in space

The first peer-reviewed publication documenting the world’s first medical X-rays acquired in space has now been released, marking an important milestone for space medicine, medical imaging, and human spaceflight research.

KA Imaging is proud to have supported the SpaceXray mission with the Reveal™ 35C detector, powered by SpectralDR® technology. Selected for its ability to provide spectral X-ray imaging from a single exposure, Reveal™ 35C generates conventional, bone, and soft-tissue images to support research into diagnostic imaging and bone health in the space environment.

The publication represents an important step toward understanding how advanced X-ray imaging may support astronaut healthcare during future long-duration missions while demonstrating the potential of spectral X-ray technology beyond Earth.
